![]() There it will probably lose the most ground to Blend / H. At least when it comes to small studios & freelancers. But time is not on autodesk’s side this once. The only thing keeping it alive now is its legacy and the deep hold it has in every single highend anim pipeline around the world. Once that happens, autodesk will probably restructure its M&E section, and sack or sell maya. No matter what it does it can’t catch up with H on its own turf, and sooner or later blender’s animation, rigging and deformation tools will get to maya’s level. ![]() Either way, autodesk has been hammering nails in its coffin for a while now. No normal company would ever try to pull this kind of stunt on its users, unless they were brainless morons, or simply didn’t give a sh*t. I would implore those of you considering this offer to run the other way.Īutodesk doing what autodesk does best: cheat, steal and sack. They draw you in with the offer of a super low (or no) interest rate for the first year and then, after 12 months, they jack you up to 30% or more. ago It's not known yet, they're doing it as a pilot right now and they haven't announced whether it'll stick around. 6 9 comments Best Top New Controversial Q&A zzewts 3 yr. ![]() It’s the sort of predatory tactic endemic to credit card companies. Timing being what it is, it is also a clear attempt at drawing these same users away from this week’s Blender v2.80 release. It is a blatant attempt at grabbing cash from unsuspecting users. This is a half-hearted attempt at answering community complaints. This should just about clear up any lingering doubts that anybody had about ADSK being a greedy, soulless monstrosity of a corporation. The fact that, after 12 months, your supposed Indie version converts to a far more expensive pro license is downright predatory. This is introductory offer pricing with Indie restrictions. Well, it appears that - on the surface - the Indie deal is a direct answer to these concerns. I mentioned that ADSK didn’t price their products to appeal to indie artists, low volume freelancers or hobbyists. I also mentioned that, unlike Allegorithmic, there was no Indie version. I mentioned in another thread how LT was a joke, EDU only served students, and that ADSK was primarily targeting studios. Given how so many people rarely read fine print, there are going to be TONS of pissed off users in 12 months time. After one year, that $250 subscription goes straight up to $1,545 USD.
